There I was.....

As some of you already know, I have been an enthusiastic supporter of the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, for something like seventeen years. While I served as a volunteer there in the Research Division, the folks over in Restoration, whom I constantly nagged with stupid questions, started nagging back -- and pushed me to write articles about Museum aircraft for publication in aviation magazines.

Dave, John, Pete, and the rest of "the guys" finally prevailed. All those questions became the framework for several aviation historical articles which appeared in Air International, Air Enthusiast, WW I Aero, Radio Controlled Modeler (RCM), and the Museum's own Friends Bulletin.

I was also very excited to have some of my own aircraft photos printed along with the articles. Here is the Museum's DH-4M-1 as it appeared in the March, 1985 issue of Air International:

Due to a VERY bad experience in the aviation writing field, I haven't completed an article in several years. However, at least six "incompletes" are waiting patiently in my "to do" drawer for me to finally get around to finishing them up. One describes the furor over a mismarked F-4 Gate Guard at Wright-Patterson AFB; one will document a record flight that few people ever heard about (accompanied by the only photos in existence of the event). If you're interested in seeing these stories in print, do what my friends in Restoration used to do--nag!

Confidential to all you would-be fighter pilots out there: for a good time call Bob!

BACK HOME, PLEASE.
